Senior Child Protection Officer (MHPSS)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Senior Child Protection Officer with expertise in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to lead and strengthen protection services in the Gaza emergency context. The role combines technical leadership, program quality oversight, and clinical supervision to ensure safe, survivor‑centered interventions for children, adolescents, caregivers, and women.

Key responsibilities

• Design, adapt, and implement MHPSS interventions aligned with IRC approaches and IASC guidelines.
• Integrate MHPSS across Child Protection, WPE, and GBV programming, ensuring layered support and referral pathways.
• Develop tools, SOPs, and curricula for group and individual MHPSS activities.
• Monitor program quality, participation, and outcomes, providing feedback and coaching to facilitators.
• Provide regular technical supervision to MHPSS officers, psychologists, and frontline staff.
• Support case conceptualization, risk management, and safe referral for high‑risk individuals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in child protection and MHPSS within humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and ensure program quality.
• Strong understanding of survivor‑centered approaches and protection risk assessment.
• Experience working in high‑insecurity environments with limited services.
