Complex Purchasing Manager

About the role

The Complex Purchasing Manager leads the procurement function for the Further Processing (FP) division, driving sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and cost‑reduction initiatives across raw materials, packaging, MRO and ingredients.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the FP raw‑material sourcing strategy and annual operating plan in partnership with finance and operations.
• Negotiate, maintain and enforce supplier contracts for all FP purchasing categories.
• Analyse current plant purchasing data, identify cost‑saving opportunities and eliminate redundancies.
• Collaborate with plant, product, R&D and corporate purchasing teams to standardise ingredient plans and achieve cost targets.
• Supervise and develop a team of 3‑4 purchasing support staff, establishing division‑wide procedures and work instructions.
• Monitor inventory levels for MRO, packaging and ingredients, ensuring optimal stock levels.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Logistics Management, Supply Chain or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, including at least 3 years in protein or food‑industry procurement.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing direct reports.
• Certified Purchasing Manager or APICS certification is preferred.
• Strong analytical, planning and negotiation abilities.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Proficiency in Lotus SmartSuite and Microsoft Office applications.
• Production scheduling and planning expertise.
• Advanced knowledge of commodity markets and protein purchasing processes.
