Light Vehicle Driver

About the role

The Light Vehicle Driver transports personnel and goods for the International Committee of the Red Cross, ensuring safe, timely, and compliant movement in line with ICRC regulations and national traffic laws. The role supports logistics operations and contributes to the humanitarian mission by maintaining reliable transport services.

Key responsibilities

• Transport people and/or goods, including weekend and evening duties as required.
• Deliver mail and parcels, providing assistance to passengers when needed.
• Communicate departure and return times to the radio room and ensure vehicles are parked securely.
• Observe security protocols, stay aware of the current security situation, and follow ICRC internal security rules.
• Operate vehicles responsibly, avoiding mobile phone use while driving and adhering to radio communication procedures.
• Refuel vehicles promptly, record fuel data in logbooks, and submit fuel bills to the dispatcher.
• Participate in loading and unloading of goods, verifying quantities against documentation.

Required profile

• Understanding and adherence to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the ICRC Code of Conduct.
• Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and staff regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with logistics staff and other ICRC employees.
• Awareness of security considerations and willingness to follow safety instructions.

Required skills

• Valid driver's licence for light vehicles.
• Proficient vehicle operation and basic maintenance.
• Accurate fuel log documentation and record‑keeping.
