Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is seeking a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Field Officer to implement its newly launched MHPSS program for people affected by violence accessing health facilities in the Middle Area and southern Gaza. The officer will work closely with health‑facility staff, community mental health centres and other partners to ensure that patients and families receive essential psychosocial care.

Key responsibilities

• Implement MHPSS activities defined in collaboration with local and national coordinators.
• Provide training, supervision and coaching to MHPSS practitioners and non‑specialised staff.
• Coordinate with ICRC health, protection and PRP teams and ensure alignment with programme objectives.
• Engage with governmental authorities, local Red Crescent branches, institutional partners and target population groups.
• Support self‑care initiatives for Ministry of Health staff working in ICRC‑supported facilities.

Required profile

• Understanding and adherence to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
• Familiarity with the ICRC Code of Conduct and internal staff regulations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent the ICRC professionally.
• Commitment to creating a positive working environment with colleagues and line managers.
