Deputy Field Pharmaceutical Services Officer – Fixed Term (Health)

About the role

The Deputy Field Pharmaceutical Services Officer supports the delivery of pharmaceutical services across UNRWA health centres in the West Bank. This fixed‑term position ensures that essential medicines and medical supplies are available, properly stored, and used in accordance with UNRWA policies.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate, order, receive and distribute medical supplies using PIMS and FMS computer systems.
• Monitor procurement processes and participate in bid analysis with the Procurement and Logistics Department.
• Conduct supervisory visits to health centres to verify stock levels and compliance with technical instructions.
• Provide in‑service training on rational drug use, dispensing, storage, and safety.
• Review supply requisitions for compliance and contribute to updating the essential drugs list.
• Assist the Field Pharmaceutical Services Officer in managing the central and peripheral pharmacies.
• Coordinate needs‑assessment studies and liaise with programme counterparts to improve pharmaceutical services.
• Participate in recruitment, orientation, training and performance evaluation of pharmacy staff.
• Track and report on rejected, short, expired or damaged supplies.
• Act on behalf of the Field Pharmaceutical Services Officer during absences.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in pharmaceutical supply chain management within a health or humanitarian setting.
• Ability to supervise field staff and conduct training sessions.
• Familiarity with UNRWA policies, technical instructions and guidelines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PIMS (Pharmacy Information Management System).
• Proficiency with FMS (Facility Management System) for inventory control.
