Humanitarian Affairs Officer – Coordination (Gaza)

About the role

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) seeks a Humanitarian Affairs Officer to support coordination of emergency response in Gaza. Reporting to the Humanitarian Affairs Officer Team Leader, the incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of the Sub‑Office, OCHA Gaza.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and report on humanitarian developments, disaster relief and emergency situations in the assigned area.
• Organise and prepare studies on humanitarian and emergency relief issues, including inter‑agency technical review meetings.
• Participate in large, complex projects such as disaster assessments and coordinate international humanitarian assistance, drafting situation reports for the international community.
• Partner with other humanitarian agencies to plan and evaluate assistance programmes, ensuring incorporation of latest findings, lessons learned and gender considerations.
• Assist in the production of appeals for international assistance and ensure proper use of donor contributions channeled through OCHA.
• Establish and maintain contacts with government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, diplomatic missions and media.
• Undertake technical assistance and field missions, including in‑depth reviews of country coordination mechanisms.
• Prepare or contribute to written reports, background papers, policy guidelines and other communications.
