Job Cost Accounting Manager

About the role

We are looking for a high‑caliber Job Cost Accounting Manager to lead the end‑to‑end job cost lifecycle for our active construction portfolio. Partnering directly with the CFO, executive leadership, and field project managers, you will bring rigorous cost‑accounting expertise to ensure margin integrity and precise financial tracking.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the internal authority on job costing, establishing and enforcing cost‑governance protocols for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
• Direct the execution of Percentage‑of‑Completion (POC) accounting in compliance with US GAAP, managing unbilled revenue, over/under‑billings, and WIP schedules.
• Provide strategic financial analysis to executives, delivering early warnings on margin erosion and actionable insights.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Estimators to review profitability, track change orders, forecast cost‑to‑complete, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Lead the monthly close cycle, performing deep‑dive variance analysis (budget vs. actual, labor absorption, overhead allocation).
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of project sub‑ledgers against the general ledger, focusing on contract assets, liabilities, and deferred revenue.
• Evaluate project backlog, monitor conversion timelines, and audit margin expectations from estimate to completion.
• Act as primary liaison for external audits related to job costing and revenue recognition.
• Optimize ERP functionality to streamline job‑cost workflows and improve reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on advanced job costing in construction.
• Demonstrated expertise in US GAAP and Percentage‑of‑Completion accounting.
• Proven ability to partner with senior leadership and project teams.
