Area Relief and Social Services Officer (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as an Area Relief and Social Services Officer on a fixed‑term basis. The incumbent will be based in the Jerusalem Area Office and will report technically to the Chief Relief and Social Services Programme and administratively to the Chief Area Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of quality basic education services to refugee students, providing technical supervision to school principals and deputy principals.
• Manage performance and behavior of school leaders, set goals, give feedback, and identify training needs.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, NGOs, government institutions, and other relevant organisations.
• Coordinate support services such as remedial teaching, psycho‑social counselling, medical referral and special‑needs assistance for under‑performing students.
• Supervise and guide Relief Workers, representing the Relief and Social Services Programme at the area level.

Required profile

• Internal UNRWA candidate.
• Proven experience in relief and social services programmes.
• Supervisory experience with staff and volunteers.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders including NGOs and government bodies.
