Chief Credit Officer

About the role

The Chief Credit Officer leads the bank’s lending function, overseeing loan origination, credit risk management, and portfolio profitability. Reporting to executive management, this role ensures compliance with regulations and alignment with strategic objectives while driving improvements in loan quality and loss mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Approve and reject loans within delegated authority and recommend approvals beyond authority.
• Maintain and validate the loan risk rating system across the institution.
• Develop, implement, and update credit policies, procedures, and operating manuals.
• Monitor loan portfolio quality, delinquency ratios, and concentration limits, reporting to the Board quarterly.
• Lead training initiatives for lenders on credit analysis and high‑quality asset booking.
• Coordinate loan pricing, rate setting, and competitive market positioning.
• Oversee special assets, loan compliance, SBA servicing, and liquidation processes.
• Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes and adjust policies accordingly.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in credit risk management and loan portfolio oversight within a banking environment.
• Proven leadership ability to manage and develop credit teams.
• Deep knowledge of banking regulations, CRA requirements, and loan loss reserve adequacy.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills with a focus on profitability and risk mitigation.
