Doctor, Internist (Humanitarian Setting)

About the role

This position provides comprehensive internal medicine care to adult patients in a high‑acuity, resource‑constrained humanitarian environment. The role involves managing acute and chronic conditions, stabilizing critically ill patients, and supporting multidisciplinary teams during emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of adult medical conditions, including infections, NCDs, cardiovascular, respiratory, and endocrine disorders.
• Stabilize acutely ill and critically ill patients, delivering both inpatient and outpatient care.
• Participate in mass‑casualty triage, emergency response, and outbreak detection activities.
• Adhere to clinical guidelines, IPC standards, and antimicrobial stewardship protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, emergency physicians, nurses, and other specialists, providing mentorship to junior staff.
• Support on‑the‑job training, develop or adapt clinical protocols, and strengthen local capacity.
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to health information reporting.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with a completed residency in Internal Medicine.
• Valid medical license and 3–5 years of post‑residency clinical experience.
• Experience in emergency, critical care, or acute medicine; exposure to trauma and critically ill patients.
• Ability to work rotational shifts, including nights and weekends, in insecure or low‑resource settings.
• Prior humanitarian or NGO experience is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English and a relevant local language, strong teamwork, communication, and cultural adaptability.
