Obstetrician / Gynecologist (Ob‑Gyn)

About the role

The Obstetrician/Gynecologist (Ob‑Gyn) provides comprehensive women’s health care, overseeing the mother’s health from pre‑pregnancy through the postpartum period and managing a wide range of gynecological conditions. The role combines direct patient care, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes for both mothers and newborns.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct prenatal check‑ups, screenings, and counseling for expectant mothers.
• Monitor labor progress, manage complications, and perform interventions such as forceps, vacuum extraction, and cesarean sections.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies including preeclampsia, placental abruption, umbilical cord prolapse, postpartum hemorrhage, and shoulder dystocia.
• Provide neonatal resuscitation and stabilize newborns with complications.
• Collaborate with neonatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists.
• Educate patients on warning signs during pregnancy and promote timely medical attention.
• Maintain accurate medical records for prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Graduate of an Obstetrics and Gynecology specialization program.
• Licensed medical practitioner authorized to perform obstetric and gynecologic procedures.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Required skills

• Prenatal care and risk assessment.
• Labor and delivery management, including forceps, vacuum extraction, and cesarean sections.
• Emergency obstetric care (preeclampsia, placental abruption, umbilical cord prolapse, postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia).
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization.
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary medical teams.
