Performance Data Scientist - First Team

About the role

The Human Performance department seeks a First‑Team Performance Data Scientist to connect the first‑team sport‑science front end with the club’s centralized analytics infrastructure. You will ensure high‑quality data collection, hygiene, and HIPAA compliance across all sport‑science, medical, and auxiliary data sources, providing actionable insights that drive training, injury prevention, and player development.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain first‑team performance data workflows, integrating GPS, athlete‑monitoring, and other sport‑science systems into the central data platform.
• Perform quality control on all data sources and enforce consistent terminology and data hygiene standards.
• Develop analytical models to evaluate training periodization, forecast micro‑cycle impacts, and support return‑to‑play decisions.
• Build tools and dashboards that deliver high‑resolution insights on player readiness, workload trends, and performance benchmarks.
• Collaborate with HP, technical, and recruiting departments to make data accessible for daily, weekly, and seasonal reporting.
• Lead sport‑science interns to increase data‑science efficiency and support department growth.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with experience handling large, multi‑source sport‑science and medical datasets.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and best practices for data security in a sports environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, medical staff, and performance analysts.
• Experience in building data pipelines and delivering actionable performance insights.
