Project Officer – Connect, Defend, Act!

About the role

Hivos is seeking a Project Officer to support the Connect, Defend, Act! (CDA) programme, which aims to protect civic space and empower human‑rights defenders across several countries, including the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Working remotely from Ramallah or East Jerusalem, you will contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring of projects that strengthen civil‑society coalitions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project activities with local partners and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
• Monitor progress against objectives, collect data and produce regular reports for donors and internal stakeholders.
• Facilitate learning and accountability mechanisms, including documentation of best practices and challenges.
• Support compliance with Hivos policies and NORAD funding requirements.
• Assist in budgeting, financial tracking and resource allocation for the CDA programme.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in project or programme management within the human‑rights or development sector.
• Strong understanding of civic‑space issues and the challenges faced by human‑rights defenders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple tasks.
