Recruitment Officer – Fixed Term (HR)

About the role

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is seeking a Recruitment Officer on a fixed‑term basis to support its Human Resources Career Management Division at the Field Office in the West Bank. This internal position will manage day‑to‑day recruitment activities and ensure compliance with UNRWA policies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily recruitment operations, including drafting vacancy ads, preparing technical tests, and screening applications against criteria.
• Coordinate interview preparation, ensure gender‑responsive recruitment, sit on interview panels and produce interview reports.
• Communicate with applicants, providing guidance and feedback throughout the recruitment process.
• Advise the Human Resources Career Management Officer and Field HR Officer on recruitment matters and contribute to the annual field recruitment plan.
• Generate periodic statistical reports on recruitment activities and maintain related documentation.
• Liaise with mission counterparts, NGOs, and national recruitment services regarding vacancies and applications.
• Update programme heads and area office chiefs on recruitment issues as needed.
• Develop assessment tools in collaboration with hiring offices and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• University degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UNRWA recruitment guidelines, gender‑responsive hiring practices and statistical reporting.
• Strong analytical, planning and organizational abilities, with the capacity to work under pressure.
• Commitment to UN core values of integrity, professionalism and respect for diversity.
