Senior Protection Officer – Mental Health & Psychosocial Support

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks a Senior Protection Officer (MHPSS) to lead the design, implementation and quality assurance of integrated mental health and psychosocial support services for children, caregivers and women in the West Bank.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, adaptation and delivery of group‑based and individual MHPSS interventions in line with IRC approaches and IASC guidelines.
• Provide technical supervision and clinical oversight to MHPSS officers, psychologists and frontline staff, including case conceptualisation and risk management.
• Ensure integration of MHPSS with child protection and GBV case management, establishing safe referral pathways.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) activities, analysing data to inform programme adaptation.
• Represent IRC in the MHPSS Technical Working Group and other coordination forums.

Required profile

• Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health or related field.
• 5–7 years of MHPSS programming experience in humanitarian emergencies.
• Fluency in Arabic and good English.
• Willingness to travel within the West Bank.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IASC MHPSS Guidelines and CP/GBV minimum standards.
• Experience designing and supervising group and individual psychosocial interventions.
• Technical supervision and capacity‑building skills for multidisciplinary teams.
