Fleet Assistant (Gaza Field Office)

About the role

The Fleet Assistant will support the Fleet Officer in managing the daily operations of Save the Children’s vehicle and generator fleet in Gaza. The role ensures safe, efficient transport of staff, goods, and services while maintaining compliance with organisational policies and child safeguarding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in daily scheduling and coordination of vehicle assignments to optimise fleet usage.
• Coordinate with programme teams to meet transportation needs for field trips, deliveries and other operations.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle requests, usage logs and driver assignments.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, arrange timely servicing and repairs with approved garages.
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.
• Support driver team management, ensuring adherence to schedules, safety standards and internal policies.
• Safeguard vehicle keys and ensure secure parking of vehicles.
• Track fuel consumption, maintain fuel records and reconcile fuel balances.
• Promote compliance with Child Safeguarding Policy and report any concerns immediately.

Required profile

• Experience in fleet or vehicle coordination, preferably in humanitarian or field environments.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
• Understanding of safety standards and child safeguarding policies.

Required skills

• Vehicle maintenance scheduling and record‑keeping.
• Fuel consumption monitoring and reconciliation.
• Basic proficiency with office software for logs and reporting.
