About the role
The Hatchery Attendant supports daily hatchery operations, handling eggs, incubation, chick care, and facility upkeep. The role demands meticulous attention to bio‑security protocols and the ability to respond quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform hourly checks of all hatchers and setters, record issues, and make minor repairs.
- Notify Maintenance or Management for major repairs and respond to alarms (temperature, turn failures).
- Conduct periodic inspections for humidifier leaks, curtain positions, and proper turning.
- Secure all doors after daytime staff leave and manage auxiliary power unit during outages.
- Refill wick reservoirs, assist with fumigation schedules, and clean assigned areas.
- Complete required logs, forms, and other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not mandatory).
- Valid driver’s license meeting MVR requirements.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
- Capability to work independently in wet, humid, noisy, and dusty environments.
- Physical ability to lift 40 lb, bend, stoop, reach, and stand for long periods.
Required skills
- Basic operation of hatchery equipment (hatchers, setters, auxiliary power units).
