Chief of Finance (MD) – Internal Posting

About the role

The MD Chief of Finance leads the finance division of UNRWA, ensuring that all financial, accounting and treasury activities comply with international standards and UNRWA regulations. This senior position reports directly to the MD Director and participates in executive decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Standardise and update financial, accounting and treasury policies in line with IFRS, IAS and UNRWA technical instructions.
• Oversee financial projection, cash‑flow monitoring, liquidity management and operational funding requirements.
• Represent the finance division in executive management meetings and report to donors, UN agencies and other stakeholders.
• Manage and develop finance and accounts staff across headquarters and field offices, fostering teamwork and capacity building.
• Lead capital and asset management, including asset registry, resource allocation and investment strategy for donated and revolving loan funds.
• Develop, monitor and mitigate the department’s financial risk profile.
• Produce accurate annual and quarterly financial statements for the department, headquarters, field offices and branch locations.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in finance, accounting or treasury within large international organisations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary finance teams and drive policy compliance.
• Strong analytical and strategic decision‑making skills.
