Security & Safety Officer

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a Security & Safety Officer to support security and safety management in the Gaza Strip. The role involves monitoring the security environment, supervising security guard teams, and ensuring compliance with ICRC policies and international humanitarian law. You will work closely with internal departments, external authorities, and humanitarian partners to protect staff, assets, and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse security developments, report incidents, and contribute to security risk assessments.
• Supervise Security Guard Team Leaders, manage guard staffing, deployment and performance.
• Develop, review and maintain site‑specific security procedures, SOPs, and action plans.
• Coordinate security‑related infrastructure, equipment and operational requirements with relevant departments.
• Identify training needs, deliver briefings and awareness sessions for guards and staff.
• Support management during security or safety incidents and ensure proper follow‑up.

Required profile

• University degree in security, safety management or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in security risk management, guard supervision or similar roles.
• Knowledge of ICRC’s Code of Conduct, Fundamental Principles and security policies.
• Ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with authorities and partners.
