Technical Deputy Chief of Education

About the role

The Technical Deputy Chief of Education supports the Chief of Education in shaping UNRWA’s education strategy across schools and vocational centres in the Palestinian Authority. This full‑time, on‑site position provides technical guidance on curriculum, teacher development, assessment and inclusive learning.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief of Education in designing, implementing and monitoring education policies, curricula and quality‑assurance frameworks.
• Coordinate with field education offices, review data and reports, and advise on programme improvements.
• Provide technical guidance on teacher development, learning assessment, inclusive education and educational innovation.
• Prepare technical documentation, contribute to donor reporting and engage with partners and stakeholders.
• Mentor education staff to strengthen capacity and performance.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in education, educational planning, social sciences, public administration or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in education policy, curriculum development and large‑scale programme management.
• Experience working in fragile or conflict‑affected contexts, preferably in the Middle East.
• Strong intercultural competence, commitment to humanitarian principles and ability to work in a gender‑sensitive, inclusive environment.

Required skills

• Data analysis and use of education indicators for decision‑making.
• Monitoring and evaluation of education programmes.
• Technical reporting and preparation of policy briefs.
