General Technician

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a General Technician to provide hands‑on technical support for its premises in the Gaza Sub‑Delegation. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical, plumbing and carpentry installations, ensuring a safe and functional work environment for staff.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, correct and prevent electrical, plumbing and carpentry issues within the premises.
• Carry out tasks defined in the planned maintenance programme and respond to urgent technical problems.
• Immediately inform the supervisor of any hazards or faults that could affect operations.
• Participate in training sessions organised by the Premises Maintenance Supervisor.
• Follow up on work‑related correspondence and keep informed of Sub‑Delegation objectives.
• Provide occasional support to other departments when required.

Required profile

• Commitment to the ICRC’s Fundamental Principles, Code of Conduct and security rules.
• Professional attitude, confidentiality and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
• Willingness to perform tasks beyond the core description and to support other teams.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of electrical systems and ability to perform repairs.
• Experience with plumbing installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Carpentry skills for building, repairing and fitting structures.
• General maintenance and handy‑work abilities.
