Site Engineer – Limited Duration Contract (LDC)

About the role

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is seeking a Site Engineer on a Limited Duration Contract to manage day‑to‑day construction and maintenance activities at its Area Office in Nablus. The role involves supervising contractors, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and supporting the agency’s mission to assist Palestine refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all on‑site construction and maintenance works, ensuring quality, health & safety, gender and environmental standards are met.
• Monitor material quality, conduct inspections and tests, and verify that workmanship complies with specifications.
• Validate quantities of work performed, review contractor payment requests and certify interim and final payments.
• Oversee site surveying, utility checks and resolve technical issues in consultation with the supervisor.
• Prepare variation orders, extensions of time and cost assessments for any changes to the contract.
• Maintain FMIS records, produce daily/weekly technical and financial progress reports, and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• University degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of experience supervising construction or infrastructure projects on site.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Residency in the West Bank or Jerusalem with a valid ID and work authorization.
