Network Service Engineer

About the role

The Network Service Engineer monitors and maintains client interconnectivity infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and uninterrupted service. You will troubleshoot incidents, coordinate with vendors, and support real‑time network health tracking.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network performance, traffic, and health metrics to proactively prevent failures.
• Create and manage trouble tickets with equipment vendors, fiber providers, and internal teams.
• Detect, analyse, and resolve network outages or performance degradations within SLA, OLA and KPI targets.
• Support installation, configuration, and firmware updates, including patch management.
• Produce detailed reports on network availability and recommend design or routing improvements.
• Liaise with external suppliers and internal departments to minimise disruption.

Required profile

• Degree in telecommunications or equivalent technical background.
• Proven experience in a Network Management or Operations Center, preferably in Managed Services, Telecom, ISP or Cloud Service Provider environments.
• Hands‑on experience in data‑center (co‑location) settings is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and routing principles.

Required skills

• Juniper, Cisco and Ciena network equipment.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA or Optical Associate/Foundation.
• Network monitoring tools and trouble‑ticketing systems.
• LAN/WAN troubleshooting, including physical layer cabling.
• IP/MPLS networks (Juniper MX Series preferred).
• Optical Ethernet and Transport Networks (Ciena 6500, Waveserver AI).
• VMware and Linux‑based systems.
• Familiarity with Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect or Google Cloud Interconnect.
