School Custodian (Entry Level)

About the role

The School Custodian ensures that KEA’s schools, offices and community spaces remain clean, safe and welcoming. This entry‑level position works under the Custodial Site Supervisor and collaborates with building‑maintenance staff to support daily cleaning, event set‑up and safety reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms and common areas.
• Prepare facilities for events, programs and special activities.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Handle basic waste disposal, floor care, window cleaning and restroom sanitising.
• Assist with occasional evening or weekend cleaning tasks as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerability Sector and Child Welfare Intervention.
• First Aid/CPR, WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety training.
• Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures.
• Operation of standard cleaning equipment (vacuum, floor scrubber, etc.).
