WASH Coordinator (Local Hire)

About the role

Project HOPE, an international NGO, is looking for a WASH Coordinator to coordinate all Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities under a funded healthcare project in Gaza. The role ensures safe, effective and sustainable WASH interventions for health facilities and communities, supporting disease prevention and public health in a complex humanitarian context. It reports to the WASH Program Manager and is advertised contingent on award, with no formal offer until funding is confirmed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, implementation and coordination of WASH activities in Gaza, developing workplans, activity schedules and staffing plans
• Provide technical guidance on water supply, sanitation systems, solid waste management and hygiene promotion, and review designs, BoQs and specifications
• Ensure quality control, compliance with Sphere standards and WASH technical guidelines, and monitor service delivery indicators
• Coordinate with local authorities, WASH clusters and partners, and integrate emergency WASH response into routine operations
• Contribute technical inputs to proposals, concept notes and program design, and prepare regular WASH reports
• Maintain beneficiary records and WASH data, and support donor monitoring visits and external evaluations
• Train, mentor and supervise WASH officers, engineers and hygiene promoters, and assist with recruitment and onboarding
• Support risk management, IPC, safeguarding and accountability to affected populations, and maintain risk registers and incident reporting

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health or a related field; Master's preferred
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in WASH programming, preferably in humanitarian or emergency settings
• Demonstrated experience managing WASH teams and supervising field implementation
• Experience with donor-funded projects
• Fluency in English and Arabic is required
