Deputy Chief, Area Office – Fixed‑Term (Hebron) – Internal Candidates

About the role

The Deputy Chief supports the Chief of the Area Office in Hebron, overseeing administrative, financial and security functions. This fixed‑term position is open to internal UNRWA candidates only.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief in preparing the area budget, monitoring expenditures and supervising administrative staff.
• Provide substantive support to security management, including monitoring the security situation, analysing incidents and liaising with local authorities.
• Coordinate area programme officers, manage logistics, finance, supply and building maintenance for the office.
• Lead rapid‑onset emergency response teams and oversee the implementation of special programmes such as the Summer Games.
• Conduct regular inspections of installations, report issues and ensure neutrality and efficiency of operations.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in business, public administration, political science, sociology or a related field.
• At least seven years of relevant experience, including three years at senior level in a large governmental or international organization.
• Fluency in English (UN Level II) and Arabic (UN Level III) – both reading and writing.
• Valid driving licence and residence in the West Bank or Jerusalem with a local ID (desirable).
