Surgical Lead – Gaza Humanitarian Programme

About the role

UK‑Med is seeking an experienced surgeon to provide clinical and operational leadership for its humanitarian surgical response in Gaza. The role combines hands‑on surgical practice with service‑management and quality‑improvement responsibilities, ensuring safe and effective care for patients in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership for surgical services in Gaza.
• Ensure surgical care is safe, effective and responsive to evolving patient needs.
• Support multidisciplinary teams and promote learning and practice improvement.
• Collaborate with national colleagues and UK‑Med leadership to develop sustainable surgical programmes.

Required profile

• 5‑9 years of surgical experience, preferably in emergency, trauma, orthopaedic or conflict settings.
• Proven leadership in complex, resource‑constrained or humanitarian environments.
• Strong clinical judgement and ability to manage service quality and improvement.
