Paediatric Orthoplastic Surgeon for Gaza Humanitarian Programme

About the role

UK-Med is seeking an experienced Paediatric Orthoplastic Surgeon to lead high‑quality surgical care for children with complex conflict‑related injuries in Gaza. The position is full‑time, field‑based and involves rotations of 4‑6 weeks (with flexibility up to 8 weeks) at the Type 2 Field Hospital in Al Mawasi and the Paediatric Orthopaedic Department at Nasser Medical Complex.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist surgical input across the patient pathway, from assessment and operative planning to surgery, postoperative care and long‑term rehabilitation planning.
• Collaborate with national colleagues, UK‑Med clinical teams and programme leadership to ensure coordinated, consistent, and compassionate care.
• Participate in clinical handovers when the role is shared between two surgeons to maintain continuity of care.

Required profile

• 5‑9 years of experience in paediatric orthopaedics, limb reconstruction, complex extremity trauma, amputations or limb‑salvage procedures.
• Strong clinical judgement and ability to work effectively in a resource‑constrained humanitarian setting.
• Willingness to travel quickly through Jordan, securing visas on arrival with eligible documentation.
