Camp and Community Services Officer – Fixed Term (Internal Candidates)

About the role

The Camp and Community Services Officer will represent UNRWA at the camp level and surrounding community, ensuring effective coordination of services such as solid waste collection and liaising with local authorities, NGOs, and refugee representatives. This fixed‑term position is open to internal candidates only.

Key responsibilities

• Represent UNRWA at the camp and community level, coordinating with municipal authorities, security forces, and NGOs.
• Support delegation visits, brief donors, journalists and stakeholders, and act as interpreter when required.
• Organise and attend regular meetings with Area Programme Officers to discuss challenges and propose actions.
• Coordinate with heads of installations, social workers, and community representatives to resolve disputes, especially related to solid waste collection.
• Assist in integrating programmes and support services, taking corrective measures within delegated authority.
• Participate in or lead relevant community committees as authorised.

Required profile

• Experience working in camp or community settings, preferably with UNRWA or similar humanitarian organisations.
• Strong knowledge of local government structures, security forces, and refugee community dynamics.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and represent the agency in public forums.
• Proactive problem‑solving attitude and capacity to intervene in disputes.
