Chief Credit Officer

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Credit Officer to lead our bank’s lending function. The role oversees credit policy, loan portfolio quality, and profitability while ensuring compliance with regulations and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Approve and reject loans within lending authority and recommend approvals for loans exceeding authority.
• Maintain the validity and consistency of the bank’s Loan Risk Rating System.
• Lead training initiatives for lenders to develop skills in analyzing and booking high‑quality earning assets.
• Participate in setting loan rates and pricing parameters to ensure market competitiveness.
• Monitor loan portfolio quality, controlling classified credits and delinquency ratios.
• Track bank‑wide loan concentrations by SIC code and report quarterly to the Board of Directors.
• Oversee the external loan review process and ensure timely completion.
• Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies and procedures, updating them in response to regulatory changes.
• Disseminate policy changes to relevant staff and keep standard operating procedures current.
• Ensure efficient information flow within the Credit Department to support customer service and operational productivity.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in credit management within a banking environment.
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, compliance requirements, and credit risk frameworks.
• Proven track record of improving loan portfolio quality, reducing non‑performing loans, and maximizing recoveries.
• Leadership ability to manage and develop large credit teams and related functions.
• Strategic mindset to align credit activities with overall bank objectives.
