Logistics Operations Planning and Coordination Officer (CST II)

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting a Logistics Operations Planning and Coordination Officer (Consultant, CST II) based in East Jerusalem, reporting to the Palestine Logistics Cluster Coordinator. The position supports the Gaza response and works closely with the Gaza team and logistics teams across the corridors (Egypt, Jordan, Ashdod, West Bank) to plan and coordinate common logistics services. The contract lasts 11 months and is renewable, subject to funding and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a Logistics Operations Coordination and Planning role to consolidate humanitarian truck movement coordination to and in Gaza.
• Set up an integrated logistics operations coordination system: centralise partner truck movement requests, design efficient convoy routing by commodity type and urgency, and implement real-time tracking and monitoring of truck movements.
• Supervise operations at transshipment platforms where authorised, and oversee system efficiency.
• Act as the main liaison between the Logistics Cluster, HMIA, Supply Chain teams and partners, and lead joint planning sessions.
• Provide technical guidance on logistics best practices and operational improvements, and evaluate system efficiency and bottlenecks.
• Identify staffing gaps and lead recruitment and onboarding of new personnel.
• Maintain partner coordination, keep accurate records and real-time data, and document lessons learned.

Deliverables at the end of the contract

• Adequately coordinate partners and activities supporting the Logistics Cluster common services, including giving technical advice to partners and more junior staff under supervision.
• Establish the agreed logistics coordination system and related arrangements.
